Four, and counting

In the past 24 hours, I have un-friended four people on Facebook for their posts about #takeaknee supporting Trump.

I have reached critical mass when it comes to stupidity, racism (latent or blatant), and hate-mongering.

I won’t unfriend a child, grandchild, or in-law (those I’ll simply un-follow if need be), but anyone else is fair game.  I’ve put up with their shit for 12 months now.  I’m DONE.

They are welcome to their opinion.  It’s just not going to litter my Facebook anymore.  Nope.  Can’t make me.  It’s time to stand up and be counted.  I choose to stand up against racism and supporting a narcissistic idiot president who is not worthy of the office.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

I hate what Trump is dong to our country, dividing people and appealing to the worst in humanity. He comes up with a new drama every few days to keep his name in the media so we won't see what he's doing some place else.

Me too. There was an excellent article in the NYT about it:

However, for non-family members, I just don't see the point in the continued battling. I'm tired of being insulted for wanting to support people of color, the oppressed, and those who don't have as much as I do, you know, 'liberal' stuff. Tired of being called a snowflake or worse. Tired of the bullying. Tired of it all. I refuse to NOT hold people accountable for their words and their actions. Probably they don't have a rat's behind that I've unfriended them in stupid social media like Facebook, but it's a Beautification Project to me at this point. I'm beautifying MY Facebook timeline by getting rid of the Republican junk.

p.s., I love John McCain and Ana Navarro; they are my two favorite Republicans.

It's been a long time coming; the 2nd half of the campaign as he rose to power, and of course, the last 10 months since he was elected and they were given free reign. (they being all of his supporters.)

  4. Margaret (Peggy or Peg too)

    Excellent quote.
I have done all of this already on FB long ago. I don't obviously have the patience you do. I also no longer watch the news because I hear about it anyway. I can't take much more. I live here in the DC Metro area and our local news is your national news. And we are on that stupid 24/7 news cycle. So now I have become that woman who wants her head in the sand so to speak. I pick and choose what I will watch (like McCain on 60 minutes) My heart can't take much more. Call me what you want but in my world people don't treat people like this and leaders don't act like petulant children. This dirt bag “leader” is making all the awful people like himself come out from under their rocks because they don't fear any repercussions any more. It makes me ill to my core.

Oh Peg, I completely understand where you are coming from. Your last two sentences…SPOT ON. He's enabling the very, very worst in people (pedophiles aside); it is just sickening. I range between head in the sand and being very angry and disillusioned. It's frustrating and maddening and sickening; the evil in people everywhere. Poor, poor Republicans 'had to put up' with a Black President for eight long years. It stirred such hatred in them, and now they've been given permission to let that venom all out. It's just disgusting. Let alone all of the other vile aspects to Trump that aren't even racist. Yet they support it all; the disrespect of women, the disabled, the immigrants wanting to better themselves, those trying to run from terror in their own homelands, the sick, the elderly…the list is endless. And he pokes a stick at the most dangerous dictator in the world; just unfathomable.

the wonderful speech from LeBron James talking about “that guy that tries to divide us” is wonderful. well worth listening to. as he says… it's not about the flag.
I cannot fathom people who think trump is worthy of anything. much less the office of president. he is totally frightening to me. he is playing with our very lives and the life of this planet earth. and your last sentence to peg above says it all. ” And he pokes a stick at the most dangerous dictator in the world; just unfathomable. “

I have noticed a few of my “friends” have posted things that show they support the Orange Cheato. I have not blocked them because many of them are related to me. But I understand doing it. Why a mess. 😦

  8. Jeanie

I've blocked some, not unfriended. But I don't need to hear from them right now. As for me, you can friend me any day (just make sure I know your real name so I accept it!)
