I won’t

…be watching or listening to the State of the Union tonight.  No how, no way.  If the internet blows up more than usual afterwards, I might read the transcript.  But I refuse to get pulled into all of this; I’m enjoying less politics/drama-llama in my life…

THAT is how hot it’s going to be today.  It was 80 plus yesterday.  Here’s the 2 week forecast:  (no rain through 2/11?  Looks like another drought starting…. plus those are REALLY warm temps, for 2 weeks, even for us, this time of year!!!)

Oh well…at least the roses are getting a head jump on the season; I’ve got new growth already!

The Shape of Water

We went and saw The Shape of Water last night.  I LOVED IT.  Much better than Lady Bird (although I did like that one, too.)  This was a nice homage to old classic films, in a sense to Beauty and the Beast, with even a nod to old-time monster movies.  (but in the best way possible.)  Sally Hawkins in the lead role was spectacular!  I highly recommend it!

We also went to dinner, and I had a bun free burger with guac, and a few onion rings instead of french fries.

After the movie, I suggested we go to Baskin Robbins for HIM to get some ice cream.  He didn’t want to put me in a tempting situation, but I assured him I was completely fine sitting there and talking with him while he ate it, and I WAS.  I had absolutely no desire for any, not even a warm brownie that you can also get without ice cream if you want it that way….and in fact, I silently felt a little proud of myself over the whole thing.  No desire for any sugar whatsoever!  I LOVE being back in the groove of healthy eating.  It’s very good not only for the body, but for the ego/psyche as well!  Instead of feeling guilty, feeling proud of how you are respecting your body!  🙂

I’m even making more of an effort to curl my hair better, and wear lipstick with the rest of my make-up; both of which I hadn’t done in a couple of years (i.e., on retrospect, stopped when I stopped eating healthy.)  It’s amazing how when you start to feel a little better about yourself, it spills into other aspects of your life!

First week, in the bag

Well, I’ve completed my first week of the ‘eat healthier, lose weight’ journey of 2018.

I’m down 5.2 lbs!

I know, first week is always the most spectacular, usually do to fluid loss.  I’ll still take it.  🙂

Ideally, I’d like to lose 2-3 most weeks, but will happy as long as it’s 2 lbs. most weeks.  In the past, I’ve always been able to lose 2-3 lbs. per week, until near goal weight, but the last 2 times that was always in an almost grain free plan, which I can’t quite do anymore.  But I’m trying to keep my calories to about where they were grain free, so hopefully I can keep up that pace of weight loss or close to it.  Even though, yes, I’m a few years older.

Still need to get started on exercising again, but my right knee has been bothering me since I took down the Xmas tree.  It feels a little better, so I’m going to try at least 15-20 minutes or so and see how that goes.  Otherwise, just continue on the way I am.  It’s worked well.  I’ve had no chocolate or desserts in a full week, and that feels GREAT.

That’s it for me.

Except, I got us great tickets to see Hall & Oates with Train in early May.  I saw Hall & Oates about 16-17 years ago with my two daughters; it was awesome.  Hubby has never seen them, but we watched a tape of a concert of theirs in the past couple of years; they still have their voices (many artists don’t as they age.)  So we are very excited.  🙂

Have a great weekend!

I slept right through it!

Apparently we had a 4.0 earthquake about 15 minutes east of us at 2 am this last night.  I slept right through it; my potty breaks were at 12:30 and 3:00.  I did dream quite vividly though, so there was that.  LOL

Hubby was kind enough not to wake me, he said he thought he might be dreaming, so didn’t bother to disturb me sleeping.  Sweetheart.  It was felt all the way into Mexico and north above L.A., so definitely worth feeling at our place.

Oh well.  I’ll catch the next one.  LOL

Oscar-nominated films; a question

Hubby and I like to try and see some of the more heavily nominated films prior to the Oscars show.  This year (this weekend) we plan to see The Shape of Water.  We might also see that 3 Billboards over Ebbing, Missouri.  We already saw Lady Bird.  You know, films we would normally never see, but when they are heavy, big-time Oscar favorites, we like to see why.

Do you ever do that, or do you not care in the least?

Israeli invasion?

Over the past 2 hours, I’ve gotten over 2,900 page views here, with 2,800 of them originating from Israel!

No comment “attack” yet, but I’m keeping watch.  This blog is NOT searchable, so I’m not quite sure what’s going on, but worse comes to worse, I’ll revert to comments needing approval.

Anyhow, weird, huh?  I have no idea what is going on…..
