First week, in the bag

Well, I’ve completed my first week of the ‘eat healthier, lose weight’ journey of 2018.

I’m down 5.2 lbs! 

I know, first week is always the most spectacular, usually do to fluid loss.  I’ll still take it.  🙂

Ideally, I’d like to lose 2-3 most weeks, but will happy as long as it’s 2 lbs. most weeks.  In the past, I’ve always been able to lose 2-3 lbs. per week, until near goal weight, but the last 2 times that was always in an almost grain free plan, which I can’t quite do anymore.  But I’m trying to keep my calories to about where they were grain free, so hopefully I can keep up that pace of weight loss or close to it.  Even though, yes, I’m a few years older.

Still need to get started on exercising again, but my right knee has been bothering me since I took down the Xmas tree.  It feels a little better, so I’m going to try at least 15-20 minutes or so and see how that goes.  Otherwise, just continue on the way I am.  It’s worked well.  I’ve had no chocolate or desserts in a full week, and that feels GREAT.

Except, I got us great tickets to see Hall & Oates with Train in early May.  I saw Hall & Oates about 16-17 years ago with my two daughters; it was awesome.  Hubby has never seen them, but we watched a tape of a concert of theirs in the past couple of years; they still have their voices (many artists don’t as they age.)  So we are very excited.  🙂

    My son was a chubby boy in high school. He did a few ups and downs and then finally he got pretty thin. I asked him one day how he did it. He said, “Exercise is great and good for your overall health but it is about the calories you take in PERIOD. ” It's worked for him…he's been thin for about 4 years now but he has to be very careful. It comes back easily.I love that you are taking good care of yourself. Well done on your first week.

    I used to think that, and it wasn't really that hard, after the first week. I felt amazingly better when I was….but my body's version of UC just won't quite allow it. But I'm limiting it pretty effectively so far, so that's good enough for me. And thanks!

    thanks, Linda! Yes, I'm hoping that by listening to my body's needs/sensitivities, as long as I stay to the same caloric intake that I did while doing very low carb, almost grain free, it won't matter much where those calories come from. Since I'm not eating any junk food and no boxed or canned prepared food. Only thing prepared is nuts, cheese, meat…the wraps/containers they come in. 🙂 My body HATES processed food chemicals. and thanks!

    Congrats on the great beginning of your diet.Hall & Oates and Train, that should be a really good concert, I always liked Hall & Oates, Sara Smile was always a favorite of mine.

    Yes, they are awesome in concert; SO SO many hits!!! I always loved Sara Smile too. Funny story; my younger had a close friend named Sarah when that song was popular and they were in their teens, and she hated it. Weird girl. LOL

    Yay! 5 pounds! Kudos to you! Did you know that with a big yoga ball, you can sit on it and move your knees up and down like you are walking. Tighten you abdominal muscles and breathe regularly. You still get the exercise without your knee having to bear your weight. Helps my knees a lot!

    Yay! Good for you. I've been bad about sugar. I really need to get my act together, but we've still got holiday treats in the fridge. Arrrghhh!
