weight loss update: Day 15

First, this will be the last time I give a ‘Day x’ nomer to all of this.  It’s just I’m a day over 2 weeks in, so I thought I’d note that.  I’ll be weighing Saturday mornings and updating at that time from now on  (here.)

I’m down 8.0 lbs.  Not too shabby!  I’m still 100% chocolate and dessert free.  Very low sugar.  I was able to eat 2 salads, one with romaine, one with baby spinach leaves as their base, and not suffer any UC (ulcerative colitis) effects, so that is a MAJOR great thing!  The goal is still 2 lbs. loss per week.  I’ve been plagued by equilibrium problems this week, (so bad that hubby had to drive me to/from work 2 days)…so exercising is off the table, but I’m still planning to start back up (slowly) within the next day or two, if the symptoms subside.  I get this a couple of times a year, no biggie.  Overall, already my jeans are feeling a little looser, tops fit better, and I’m feeling much better about myself.  No real temptations I couldn’t easily ignore, and so things are going as good on the weight loss front as I could hope for.  🙂

Glad you guys so resoundingly loved the puppy and bunny posts.  I think I’m going to pop them on my menu bar as a quick way to move away from any potential political angst or any other stress.  🙂  There will be more posts like that to come.  I’m already collecting pictures.  LOL

Weather-wise, it’s been amazing, although we know this portends another drought starting.  It’s been 75-80 for over a week now, and no end in sight.  Literally.  Here’s the forecast for my city for the next two weeks:

Have a great weekend!!

ETA:  since I’ve already been asked once, and I realize I shouldn’t expounded, here is what usually causes this equilibrium issues for me:  usually it’s from bending over too fast either to pat or pick up my chihuahua, although some times it’s from gardening. In the past, it’s also been from losing enough weight that I can slightly decrease my bp medication dosage. I don’t think 7-8 lbs. is quite enough, but if this doesn’t depart soon, I might start slivering one dose for a few days to see if that helps. 🙂

Thanks, Jean! Every time I hear 'donuts' (or any other thing that might be tempting or enjoyable from the past, sugar-wise)…I think….'long term gratification, not short term. This will not work to help me lose weight and get healthier or live longer, so I do not WANT it. I want only food that supports me, not that hurts me.' It's working well for me. 🙂

'long term gratification, not short term'! That should be printed and posted on our refrigerators and dash boards (for temptation to drive-thru for dinner instead of cooking a healthy one).Way to go, I like that your goal is ultimately get healthier and live longer!

Good for you. My problem with losing weight is that if we go anywhere I end up getting increased salt in my food. Weight goes up. I do exercise fairly frequently here in exercise classes. I try to avoid starches and sugars. Not doing well at all with weight loss.

Marcia, I ha e found that it helps when you are ordering to get meats that aren’t pre marinated, and specifically tell them to NOT salt your food. It won’t make it all salt free but will help significantly. 👍🏻Re sugars and starches…you really can’t lose weight without cutting back significantly on both. Until you are willing to make that choice consistently, yes, it will be a tough struggle. I can promise you though if you try to be really sugar free and mostly grain free for just one week… the cravings all but disappear. Honestly!! Thousands can attest to this in the paleo or “primal” world!!

Good for you on the weight loss. My doctor actually recomended no more than weekly, and when I was doing it through weight watchers and so on I just let them weigh me and ignored the “in between”.

Yes, it's too easy to get caught up in obsessing over every nano-ounce, or at least it is for (OCD) me, I've learned in the past. Once a week keeps me honest, but keeps me focused on long term, not temporary ticks up that might just be nothing. 🙂

kudos to you dearest bean! and it's sensible and obviously working. that's wonderful!I've recently turned to being Vegan. I have been a vegetarian off and onfor most of my adult life. and as with sugar… just kept slipping back.this time I won't. because I already am seeing and feeling such a difference.the heart numbers were telling me I have to get serious.I am taking the B 12 supplement though. a friend sent me the documentary 'What the Health' and it's good. really good.it's whatever works for us of course. but this one is truly worth watching. the cover ups of the corporations exposed in it are incredible. almost like the Pentagon Papers. only in the health and research industries. it's no wonder we stay confused and SICK! wow!
